PATNA: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has come under deep trouble as the Supreme Court is to hear a criminal petition filed against him in a murder case today.
A bench led by Chief Justice Dipak Misra will take up the criminal petition filed by a Delhi lawyer ML Sharma.
Last month, Sharma had filed the petition seeking for disqualification of Nitish Kumar’s House membership for allegedly hiding a murder case pending against him in the court in his poll affidavits twice, according to reports.
Kumar is currently a Member of Bihar Legislative Council, Upper House of the state legislature, and has not fought elections since taking oath as the chief minister in November 2005.
The petitioner has further demanded fresh investigation into the case alleging the chief minister got the police department under him file a “closer report” in the 1991 murder case
The 26-year-old case hit the headlines after RJD chief Lalu Prasad released documents to the media in July shortly after Kumar walked out of the Grand Alliance to form government with the BJP.
