PATNA: In a major embarrassment to Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, fishes were found swimming in the ICU of the Nalanda Medical College & Hospital (NMCH), Patna’s second premier health institute as rainwater flooded the hospital on Sunday.
Local TV footages showed the hospital inundated under knee-deep water while the patients get treated under unhygienic condition.
Various wards, corridors and even ICU of the hospital get flooded as heavy rains lashed Patna, causing further troubles to the patients and attendants alike.
The hospital, along with several other parts of the city, is flooded as the region is experiencing rains since the past few days.
Heavy raids also exposed the government’s preparedness when the rainwaters flooded residence of deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi.
Rains also damaged a portion of Bailey Road, considered the lifeline of Patna, prompting the authorities to instantly block traffic and divert elsewhere.
Soon after the incident, chief minister Kumar visited the spot and inspected the site before ordering an investigation.
The incident has raised big question mark over the ongoing construction works on the Bailey Road.
