PATNA: The BJP today dared Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar to act against RJD chief Lalu Prasad hours after he TV news channel aired an audio clip showing Prasad engaged in a telephonic conversation with jailed don Mohammad Shahabuddin.
“Nitish Kumarji, a crime has been committed. Are you going to initiate action against your ally Lalu Prasad?” union minister for law and justice Ravi Shankar Prasad told a Press conference in New Delhi today.
In Patna, his colleague and former Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi launched a blistering attack on the state government for going silent over the issue and asked the RJD chief to expel Shahabuddin from the party after the tape expose.
“Republic (TV) of Arnab (Goswami) has exposed how Lalu is taking instructions from dreaded criminal Shahabuddin. Will Nitish act?” tweeted Modi.
He took further potshots at the prevailing state of affairs under the current regime reminding how a RJD minister Abdul Ghafoor had gone to Siwan jail to meet Shahabuddin while another minister Abdul Bari Siddiqui met don’s family members.
In the purported conversation, Shahabuddin is heard asking Prasad to remove a police official in his district while expressing annoyance over his style of functioning.
The purported conversation apparently took place last year while Shahabuddin was lodged in Siwan jail. Right now, he has been shifted to Delhi’s Tihar jail.
