PATNA: A teacher from Bihar has spent money from his pocket to install biometric machine and CCTV cameras at his school to improve students’ attendance and provide education to more children, earning huge accolades from the society.
Umesh Kumar who works as the head master installed the biometric machine and CCTV cameras at the government middle school, Pulawaghat in East Chamaparan district last week.
The teacher made this initiate after he found the children avoiding schools and instead passing leisure time in the neighbourhood. A total of 625 children from poor families were enrolled in the school but majority of them were not attending the classes.
Such has been the impact of this initiative that the student’s attendance has pleasantly improved and the teachers too are reaching the school on time.
He said he got the biometric machine and CCTV installed at this school from his salary and some donations from the villagers to strengthen the education system.
“It will be a boon if such experiment is carried out in other schools too,” said Kumar.
According to him, previously barely about 200 children out of total 625 were attending the school but after launch of the initiative, the attendance of children had remarkably improved.
“Now, around 400 children has been attending classes every day and my effort is to ensure cent percent attendance,” he said.
