Thieves target former Bihar CM BP Mandal’s house, walk away with valuables

PATNA: Unidentified miscreants stole away valuables and cash worth over Rs 5 lakh from the house of former Bihar chief minister late B P Mandal in Bihar.

Police said the miscreants entered the house of Mandal’s house at Madhepura town on Friday night and walked away with the stolen goods without being challenged by anyone.

The incident took place when the family members had gone to the native village Murho in the same Madhepura district. The police have arrested three persons in this connection.

Mandal served as chief minister of Bihar for a brief period of 30 days in 1968. He died in 1982.

The former CM who is known as the architect of “Mandal Commission” had recommended 27 percent reservation of jobs for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in central government and public sector undertakings.
