PATNA: Authorities in Bihar have served show-cause notices on three top police officials after they were caught on camera playing games on their cell phones during a crucial meeting with chief minister Nitish Kumar held last week.
The officials served show-caused notices include—Patna’s senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaj, Patna city SP (central) Chandan Kumar Kushwaha and Saran district superintendent of police Pankaj Kumar Raj.
“Such conduct was not expected of the senior police officers,” additional director general of police Sanjeev Kumar Singhal told the media on Monday.
All these police officials were caught on camera glued to their cell phones and playing games or watching pictures on the social media platform at a meeting held by the chief minister over enforcing prohibition in the state.
After these footages went viral, the state government took a serious note of their conduct and ordered an investigation.
“They were enjoying mobile game Candy Crush, visuals of US President Donald Trump’s wife Melania Trump, even as the CM addressed them and sought their cooperation,” an unnamed official was quoted as telling Hindustan Times.
The official added, “In this era of 24-hour media, people holding important positions need to be watchful about their conduct in public”.
