PATNA: Authorities in Bihar have beefed up security around the Kasturba Gandhi Girls Residential School in Supaul district after goons’ attack on the girl students sparked widespread outrage.
“We are seeking report from our subordinates over the security around the school and also considering about increasing the height of school’s boundary wall,” Supaul district magistrate Baidyanath Yadav told a Press conference on Monday.
“Apart from this, we are also conducting security audits of other Kasturba Gandhi schools located in the district,” the DM added.
Meanwhile, authorities have ordered for a special investigation into the incident and the police have arrested 10 accused persons so far.
“We have arrested 10 persons so far in connection with the incident,” Bihar’s additional director general of police SK Singhal told the media.
Around 40 schoolgirls were wounded after the miscreants raided Kasturba Gandhi Girls’ residential school, Daprakha in Supaul district on Saturday evening and assaulted them with bamboo sticks and other hard objects.
The girls were attacked just because they had protested lewd comments by the local youths who also had been scribbling dirty words on the walls of the school.
