PATNA: A groom suffering from water phobia refused to take a boat ride to reach the wedding venue on Sunday, prompting the bride to reach former home with guests instead.
The wedding of Sunita Tuddu, a resident of Manihari town in Bihar’s Katihar district was scheduled to be solemnised with Manwell Marandi from Sahebganj district initially on 6 July but right on the eve of wedding steamer services were suspended for some unavoidable reasons.
The suspension of the steamer services forced the groom to reschedule the wedding itinerary. Now, it was rescheduled for 8 July. Apparently, the groom had hoped the steamer services will be resumed by that date but it still remained suspended.
Eventually, the groom refused to take boat ride on the swollen Ganga in this rainy season to reach bride’s home in Bihar, fearing the boat tragedy.
The news soon reached the bride’s home, leaving everyone disturbed. By then the guests had already arrived at bride’s home to attend wedding.
Eventually, the bride herself decided to reach groom’s home for wedding, taking the same boat ride in river Ganga. She reached groom’s home in the company of 50 wedding guests and it was only then that the wedding could be finally solemnised.
“The boy (groom) conveyed us that he suffers from water phobia and hence he can’t take boat ride to reach my home for wedding. That’s why I am going to his home instead,” the bride told reporters before leaving for groom’s door on Sunday evening.
She was accompanied by females and other wedding guests, with all the wedding items. It looked interesting when the women accompanying the bride began singing wedding songs out of joys.
