8-year-old girl killed, buried after gang-rape in Bihar
The incident took place in Nawada district
PATNA: An eight-year-old girl was gang-raped before being killed and buried in Bihar. The incident took place at Hisau village in Nawada district.
According to reports in the local media, the girl was sleeping outside her home with family members on Saturday night when the miscreants bodily lifted her and allegedly gang-raped at an isolated place.
Subsequently, they strangulated her to death and buried her in the nearby cremation ground before fleeing the scene.
Local villagers traced her body after they grilled some youths suspecting their involvement. Based on their revelation, they later found her body. The police have arrested two youths in this connection.
The victim was staying with her grandmother as her parents work at a brick kiln outside the state.
Last week, a grade 12 girl student was abducted and raped while she was returning home from coaching centre Gaya district.
The incidents of rape have become a matter of serious concern in Bihar. As per an official report, a total of 1,475 incidents of rape were reported last year which means an average four girls were being raped every day in the state.
In 2017, a total of 1,198 cases had been reported while in 2016, altogether 1,008 incidents of raped were reported, followed by 1,041 in 2015, 1,127 in 2014 and 1,128 in 2013.
