All for a small piece of land: Pregnant mother, three children hacked to death in Bihar

PATNA: A pregnant mother and her three little children, aged between four and eight, were hacked to death allegedly over a small piece of land in Bihar late Thursday night, sending shock waves in the areas.
The horrible incident took place at Madhopada village under Bairgachhi outpost in Araria district, more than 350 km east of Patna.
The level of cruelty shown by the attackers is understood from the fact that all of them had their throats slit open while the woman was savagely stabbed in her womb to kill her unborn child too, media reports said.
The victims have been identified as Tabassum, 30, and her three children namely Sameer, 4, Alia, 6 and eight-year-old Shabbir.
According to victim woman’s husband Alam, he opened the door to go out for attending nature’s call at round midnight when four persons forcibly entered inside and slaughtered all of them one by one. After committing the crime, they all fled from the broken window.
Police said longstanding land dispute could be the reason behind the incident although they are investigating the case from all angles.
“Prima facie it appears the murder was the outcome of land dispute although we are investigating the case from, all angles. The accused will be caught soon,” local district superintendent of police Dhurat Sayli Savlaram told the media on Friday.
