Lucknow: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday met Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Miss Mayawati and claimed that the BJP would be whitewashed in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Addressing a joint press conference with Akhilesh Yadav, Tejashwi asserted that the BJP will be wiped out of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
He said that the fate of Delhi will be decided in these two states.
“I congratulate Mayawati ji and Akhilesh ji for forging this alliance in national interest. It was necessary in the backdrop of the situation in the country right now. Those who were slaves of British are in power right now,” he said.
Alleging that the CBI and ED were no longer agencies but “alliance partners” of the BJP, Tejashwi said that Lalu Prasad Yadav is in jail because Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who saw him as “threat.”
He also alleged that the Prime Minister has not fulfilled even a single promise.
Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav thanked Tejashwi for his support and added that the entire country except the BJP was celebrating the alliance between the two parties.
“Entire country is celebrating the alliance in Uttar Pradesh except the Bharatiya Janata Party. From Delhi to Kolkata, people are unhappy… they want the BJP out.” he said.
Reacting to the non-inclusion of Congress in the Uttar Pradesh alliance, he said the SP and the BSP were enough to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2019 General Elections, media reports said.
When asked about the Congress, which is with the RJD in Bihar, Tejashwi, who on Monday supported the SP-BSP alliance, cited recent by-polls successes to claim the two parties are enough to crush the saffron brigade.
Last year, the SP-BSP alliance had won in Gorakhpur and Phulpur Lok Sabha seats, where by-polls were held.
The two UP seats were considered to be the strong holds of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his deputy Keshav Prasad Maurya.
The RJD leader said the BJP will lose 100 seats in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand from its tally of 2014 General Elections.
Earlier, Tejashwi had met BSP supremo Mayawati in Lucknow city and greeted her on birthday.
Referring to Mayawati, Yadav said ‘elders’ teach young people when they grow up under their guidance.
“Extended warm Birthday greetings in advance to the person who deserves honor because of everything she has achieved in life.Elders teaches us a ton when we grow up under their guidance. I wish many more years ahead, happiness & success to Honourable Mayawati Ji. Happy Birthday!,” Yadav tweeted.
He also shared several images of the meeting on his Twitter page.
The meeting took place at a time when the BSP and the Samajwadi Party, two major political parties in the Uttar Pradesh, announced an alliance for the Lok Sabha polls.
At a press conference addressed jointly, SP leader Akhilesh Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati on Saturday had announced an alliance in which both the parties will contest in 38 seats each, media reports said.
Two seats have been left for the Congress and two for other regional parties.
Meanwhile, the Congress has announced to contest all the 80 LS seats in this politically crucial state.
