PATNA: Anant Singh, the powerful don-turned-politician more popular as “Chhote Sarkar” among his supporters, finds himself getting abandoned at the local Beur jail in Patna as none is coming to meet him.

In the past three days since he was sent to jail after being slapped with anti-terror law under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act following recovery of AK-47, hand grenades  and live cartridges from his ancestral home in Patna, none has reached to meet him in jail and know about his well being.

“None has come to meet him (Anant Singh) in jail in the past three days,” Beur jail superintendent Jawahar Lal Prabhakar told the media on Wednesday. Singh is an independent legislator from Mokama seat in Patna district.

Reports quoting local media and the police said his well wishers are making distance with him this time apparently because he has been charged under anti-terror law and hence none perhaps wants to show their closeness with him.

Another reason, sources informed, could be that the jail administration has tightened security measures.

Under the new arrangement, a person willing to meet the legislator will not only have to submit his ID proof but also will have to get himself photographed at the jail gate.

“Security has been beefed up in jail. Now only those are allowed to meet the legislator who can produce ID proof,” jail superintendent Prabhakar told the local media.

Singh who had been absconding since recovery of AK-47 from his home surrendered in a Delhi court on Friday. On Sunday he was brought to Patna by a Go Air flight and produced in a local court in Barh sub-division after which he was remanded to 14-day judicial custody.

These weapons were recovered during a raid conducted at ancestral village at Ladma village in Barh sub-division of Patna district.
