PATNA, INDIA: A teenager who underwent sexual abuse for months at a child care home earlier has been allegedly gang-raped by four youths in a running car in the Indian state of Bihar.

The victim who only recently had been rescued from the child care home was going to the house of relative in Bihar’s West Champaran district on Friday evening when four masked men dragged her inside the Bolero car.

The victim told the police that she identified two of the four accused persons after she removed their masks from the face.

Reports quoting local media said the victim was one of the 34 girls who were recently rescued from a child care home being run by an NGO at Muzaffarpur, a north Bihar town some 80 km from Patna, capital city of Bihar.

The rescued girls had alleged they were gang-raped by the officials and visitors at the care home and were allegedly injected sedatives before being sexually abused each time.

The alleged mass rape of destitute girls had came to the light after Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), a multi-campus public funded research university in India’s financial capital Mumbai, conducted social audit of the care home last year.

In its detailed report, the TISS stated that “Institutions of all categories were found to be indulging in some form of abuse”, according to the reports.

The entire case took a sharp turn when India’s apex court ordered the case to be investigated by the nation’s premier investigating agency Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

In another significant development, authorities have ordered the “horror home” where the victim girls were sexually abused, to be razed to the ground.
