Indian man sentenced to 42 years in prison for killing boy after sexual abuse
PATNA, INDIA: A local court in India has sentenced a man 42 years in prison for brutally killing a minor boy after unnatural sex.
The court in the eastern Indian state of Bihar handed out the judgment on Wednesday after taking into the seriousness of the crime.
“The accused doesn’t deserve relief as he has committed a highly abominable crime. He is not fit to live in the society,” judge Mohammad Abdul Salam said, delivering the judgment in a jam-packed court in Patna.
The court awarded the accused 10 years in jail for his crime of abduction, another 10 years for his crime of unnatural sex, two years for destroying the evidence and misleading the police and remaining 20 years in jail for murdering the victim, lawyers told the media on Thursday.
“All the punishments will go separately. Convict’s other punishments will automatically start once he completes his life term for murder,” the court said.
The incident had taken place in April 2013 in Patna, capital city of Bihar. According to the police, a 10-year-old boy was going in the area when the man kidnapped him, took to a secluded place and had unnatural sex with him before crushing him to death with bricks.
Murder cases have become a matter of serious concern in Bihar. According to an official report, a total of 19,616 people have been killed in Bihar since 2013 when the brutal incident took place in the state.
