Lalu gets bail in one fodder scam case but he will have to wait to come out of jail
JHARKHAND HIGH COURT GRANTS BAIL IN DEOGHAR TREASURY CASE
RANCHI: A local court in Jharkhand state on Friday granted bail to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad in a fodder scam case.
The Jharkhand High Court granted bail to Prasad in Deoghar treasury case in which he was awarded three years of imprisonment.
However, Lalu Prasad won’t come out of the jail since he is serving prison sentence in two other fodder cases also.
Prasad’s lawyer said he was granted bail on the ground that he had completed half of his sentencing in that case.
Now, his lawyer plans to file bail petitions in two other fodder scam cases on the similar ground. Apart from Deoghar treasury case, Prasad is currently serving prison term in Chaibasa and Dumka treasury cases.
Prasad has been sentenced to five years in jail in Dumka case while he was awarded seven years jail in Chaibasa case.
The RJD president has been in jail since December 2017. Earlier this year, the Supreme Court had rejected his bail plea.
