Internet sensation Ranu Mondal who rose to fame by singing Lata Mangeshkar’s iconic song “Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai…” has got a piece of advice from the legendary singer.
“Be original. By all means, sing the evergreen songs by me and my colleagues. But after a point, the singer must seek and find his or her own song,” Lata was quoted as telling news agency IANS.
“Imitation is not a reliable and durable companion for success. By singing my songs or Kishoreda’s (Kumar), or (Mohd) Rafi Saab’s, or Mukesh Bhaiyya or Asha’s (Bhosle) numbers, aspiring singers can get short-term attention. But it won’t last,” she said in an interview to the media.
However, the legendary singer says she feels fortunate if anyone got benefitted by her name and work.
Mondal became popular overnight after someone recorded a video of the poor woman singing the song at a railway station and then uploaded on the social media.
Since then she had sung two songs for Himesh Reshammiya’s Happy hardy and Heer.
