Man offers kidney to ailing Indian politician Lalu Prasad
DOCTORS SAY ONLY 40 PERCENT OF RJD CHIEF'S KIDNEY IS CURRENTLY FUNCTIONING
RANCHI: A man has announced to donate his kidney to ailing Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad now serving prison term in jail in multi-billion dollar fodder scam.
The prominent Indian politician is currently lodged in Ranchi jail in the eastern Indian state of Bihar.
The man identified as Irfan Ahmed Ansari came forward to donate his kidney after the doctors said only 40 percent of the jailed Indian politician is currently functioning now.
“I and my entire family are ready to donate our kidney to Lalu Prasad. The doctors should check which of our family member’s kidneys match with him and transplant it,” Ansari told the media on Saturday. Ansari family includes his wife and six children.
Ansari who happens to be the RJD’s Jharkhand state’s general secretary is quite worried at the fast-falling health of his leader who has been in jail since December 2017.
“His kidneys are not functioning properly. The GFR (glomerular filtration rate) has dropped. His blood sugar and blood pressure are also fluctuating. We can say he is not stable,” Dr Umesh Prasad, one of the attending doctors, was quoted as telling news agency PTI earlier this month.
Prasad has been suffering from multiple health complications and his family has demanded proper treatment to the jailed leader.
