Man reaches hospital for hydrocele surgery, doctors operate his right leg instead!
THE INCIDENT TAKES PLACE AT STATE-RUN ANMCH IN BIHAR'S GAYA DISTRICT
PATNA: Authorities in Bihar have ordered an investigation after the doctors at a government hospital in Bihar operated upon the right leg of a patient while he had been admitted for surgery of his hydrocele.
The horrible incident took place at the state-run Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMCH) in Gaya district on Tuesday.
Ram Bhajan Yadav (52), a resident of Punakala village under Paraiya block in the district, had got himself admitted to the hospital on Monday for surgery of his grown-up hydrocele. He categorically told the doctors that he had problems from his hydrocele.
“But when my father came out of the operation theatre, I was shocked and surprised as he had bandage on his leg. The doctors had operated upon his right leg while he had been admitted for hydrocele surgery,” victim’s son Bhuneshwar Yadav told the media on Wednesday.
DOCTORS PUT PLASTER CAST ON WRONG FOOT
According to him, his father had swelling in his right leg owing to filarial disease but had no problem at all. “But with this surgery, the doctor have landed him in new trouble,” he alleged.
The ANMCH superintendent Vijay Krishna told the local media that an inquiry had been ordered into the incident and action would be taken after the probe.
Almost similar thing had been earlier reported from Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where the doctors put plaster cast on the right leg of a boy while he had fractured his left leg.
