PATNA: A suspected meteorite which fell from the sky earlier this week has now interested Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar who monitored it very closely on Wednesday in the presence of senior officials.

After a close scrutiny, the chief minister today announced to keep the suspected meteorite in the Bihar museum for public display for some time before it is finally shifted to the science museum.

The stone with amazing magnetic properties and weighing about 13 kg had fallen from the sky at Mahadeva village under Laukahi block in Madhubani district on Monday causing a hole in the ground.

Witnesses said some local farmers were engaged in farm works when they heard a loud thud around and trail of smoke in the areas.

Initially they fled out of panic but soon they mustered courage and dug out the object from the ditch. Curious villagers placed magnets on the stone and found it had magnetic powers.

Eventually, the news reached the chief minister who couldn’t resist his temptation to see it from a close.
