Other side of development: School building razed to widen railway tracks in Bihar
Demolition of school building affects schooling of poor children as matter reaches Patna High Court
PATNA: The Patna High Court has asked the state government to present facts after a school building was allegedly razed to the ground for widening a railway track between Muzaffarpur and Hajipur.
A two-member bench of the court comprising Justice Jyoti Sharan and Justice Arvind Srivastava asked the state government to submit details while responding to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by on Vijay Kumar, media reports said today.
“It’s is very shocking. Development can’t be carried out at the cost of children education,” the bench reportedly observed.
In the PIL, the complainant mentioned that a government school building has been razed to the ground in the name of widening the railway track while it was not built on the railway land.
The complainant said the school building was demolished without making alternate arrangement for the schooling of the children which has affected the career of the poor children.
