Patna High Court punishes two senior judges for ‘unseemly’ conduct in public
PATNA: The Patna High Court administration has taken action against two judges posted in Bhagalpur and Katihar districts of Bihar for their “unseemly” conduct.
In the first case, an additional district and sessions judge, Bhagalpur, Vinay Kumar Mishra has been placed under suspension by the Patna high court administration for allegedly seeking bribe from a accused in a murder case.
The action was taken after a video of the judge involved in bribe deals went viral in the social media. In the video, the judge is heard saying which of the amount he received and which he didn’t.
According to media reports, a non-bailable arrest warrant as well as lookout notice were issued against a prominent businessman after a fruit merchant was killed. It was in this regard that bargaining was allegedly being made to soften the action against the accused.
In the second incident, the Patna high court administration has transferred the Katihar district judge Pradeep Kumar Malik for assaulting his bodyguard.
He has been told to instantly join as Officer on Special Duty in Patna High Court. “Such conduct is not worth tolerable,” the Patna high court administration was learnt to have said.
