PATNA: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) in Bihar has filed charge-sheet against former assembly Speaker and senior Congress leader Sadanand Singh among total 41 persons in connection with the alleged appointment scam.
The incident has come as a major setback to the Congress party already battling for survival in Bihar.
Singh currently represents the Kahalgaon seat in the Bihar assembly and happens to be the Congress legislature party leader.
The other persons against whom charge-sheet was filed include Special Work officer, then additional secretary, present additional secretary, then deputy secretary, and others.
As per the report, quite many staffs appointed in the state assembly were such who neither had submitted application forms nor appeared for the written test.
The vacancy for appointments on various posts had been advertised in 2001 when Sadanand Singh served as the Speaker of the Bihar assembly.
As per media reports, a total of 2,544 candidates had been called for interview. It is alleged quite many people appointed for various posts happened to the relatives of the officials concerned and didn’t fullfill the required qualifications.
