Tejashwi lone hope of RJD in Lalu’s absence, declared CM candidate for 2020 Bihar polls
THE DECISION WAS TAKEN AT RJD'S NATIONAL'S EXECUTIVE MEETING HELD IN PATNA ON SATURDAY
PATNA: Tejashwi Yadav remains the lone hope of the RJD in the absence of party chief Lalu Prasad who is currently serving prison term in Ranchi jail in fodder scam cases.
This became clear on Saturday when the RJD party leadership decided to fight the next year’s assembly elections in Bihar under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav.
At the executive committee meeting of the RJD held on Saturday, the party announced Tejashwi will be the chief ministerial candidate of the RJD in the 2020 assembly polls.
“The RJD will fight the 2020 assembly elections in Bihar under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav,” party’s state president Ram Chandra Purve was quoted as telling the media today.
At the meeting, Tejashwi said the party’s poor performance in the just-held Lok Sabha polls was a matter of serious concern and stressed the need for setting aside party’s “traditional line” of politics, media reports said.
He also reportedly said the relationship between BJP and JD-U had soured in recent weeks yet no proposal had reached to the party so far.
“Will see if any such proposal comes from the JD-U,” Tejashwi remarked.
