Unable to bear torture for theft, schoolboy ends life in Bihar
PATNA: Police in Bihar have ordered an investigation after a Class five student ended his life by consuming poison, unable to bear tortures for theft.
The 12-year-old student identified as Satish Kumar was studying in Central School, Sitamarhi.
Report quoting police sources and family members said the schoolboy who was lodged at a private hostel consumed poison on Wednesday. He was immediately rushed to the local government hospital but died soon thereafter.
Victim family members alleged the child committed suicide as he was being repeatedly tortured by the school administration for alleged theft.
“He had told me so many times that he was being beaten and tortured on the charges of theft which he never committed. I met the school principal over the issue and he promised this would not happen in future yet his torture continued. Ultimately, he didn’t bear the torture and ended his life,” victim’s father Sushil Kumar told the media on Thursday.
“They (school teachers) have murdered my child,” he alleged. Kumar has registered a case with the local police station against the school administration.
Police said the investigation had been ordered into the incident and a team of forensic science laboratory too has been called.
