Youth burnt to death in Bihar for ‘stealing’ two bags of mustard
The incident took place in Begusarai district
PATNA: A youth was burnt to death on the charges of theft in Bihar in a latest incident of villagers taking law into their own hands.
The incident took place at Laharpur village in Begusarai district on Monday.
Reports quoting local media said 19-year-old Suman Kumar had been working as a caretaker of a house at the village.
On Sunday night, some villagers assaulted him badly after charging him with stealing two bags of mustard.
On Monday again, the youth was beaten very badly before being doused with highly inflammable liquid and set on fire.
The seriously-burnt victim was rushed to the local government hospital where he succumbed to his injuries soon. In this connection, a case has been registered with the local police station.
“The accused persons entered into my home and set him afire after dousing him with kerosene oil. They had already beaten him very badly,” victim’s mother Sunita Devi told the local media on Tuesday.
